Choosing the right disinfectant for commercial and residential applications can be confusing. With so many different choices and chemistries, modes of action, suggested contact times, application methods, and microbiological efficacies on offer, how do you select the right product?
 
Chlorine dioxide (ClO2) has been used for many decades as a highly effective disinfectant in a wide range of industries. It also has a stellar reputation among healthcare industry professionals, the World Health Organization (WHO) and the United States Center for Disease Control (CDC).

ClO2 consistently outperforms alternative chemistries and disinfectant products, providing superior disinfection that can be applied to all services and all types of commercial and residential settings. Other chemistries such as alcohols or quaternary ammonium compounds (QACs) can provide reasonable efficacy against bacteria and fungi, but they are much less effective against viruses and have no credible efficacy against bacterial spores in acceptable contact times. Additionally, chlorine dioxide alternatives such as hydrogen peroxide and peracetic acid are known to be corrosive and potentially hazardous to clinical users.
